THE ANCESTRAL PEOPLE
The ancient history of Africa was dominated by many huge migrations. The
abundance of agricultural and hunting grounds in relation to the small population
gave the inhabitants the opportunity to look for new virgin land in cases of drought,
invasion etc.. These movements increased the cultural exchange among various
ethnic groups. Between the 13th and 19tti centuries, Kenya, as Uganda and Tanzania
had attracted many immigrants from various origin, making up the actual mosaic of
ethnic groups and languages.
The first wave in approximately 2000 BC arrived from Ethiopia and Somalia. Tall
and thin, these nomads of Cushitic language penetrated from the Lake Turkana to
Central Tanzania.
